bitch its about to get real
Never had much faith in love or miracles
Never wanna put my heart on the line
But swimming in your water is something spiritual
I’m born again every time you spend the night
‘Cause your sex takes me to paradise
Yeah your sex takes me to paradise
And it shows, yeah, yeah, yeah
‘Cause you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long
Yeah you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too longYou bring me to my knees
You make me testify
You can make a sinner change his ways
Open up your gates cause I can’t wait to see the light
And right there is where I wanna stay
‘Cause your sex takes me to paradise
Yeah your sex takes me to paradise
And it shows, yeah, yeah, yeah
‘Cause you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long
Yeah you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too longOh oh oh oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Can I just stay here
Spend the rest of my days here
Oh oh oh oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Can’t I just stay here
Spend the rest of my days here
‘Cause you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long
Yeah you make me feel like, I’ve been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long

cas actually did slip through dean’s hands
and he knew the guilt that would eat dean up
and it’s not like he didn’t think he really did deserve to be there anyways
what if cas gave dean the wrong memory
to absolve him of his guilt?????????/

dear all,
Dean and Cas cannot exist without Sam
Sam is important to Dean and Cas
Dean and Cas? relationship??? yes - said Sam
Sam and Dean/Cas magnifico
Sam complaining about Dean/Cas these are a few of my faaavourite things
Dean/Cas and Sam cockblocking
Sam-Dean-Cas
Sam cannot go off with Amelia and leave Dean and Cas skipping merrily around hunting things because Dean does not work like that
Dean with Sam is Dean
Dean without Sam is not Dean
Dean/Cas without Sam is not Dean/Cas
thank u
You know what? I kinda disagree with this. I get that their codependence is a thing. But it does seem like Carver’s trying to move past having Sam and Dean’s identities based soley on one relationship with one person.
And was Dean with Lisa not-Dean? Was Dean in Purgatory not-Dean? Was Dean during the four years that Sam was at Stanford not-Dean? How about 2014!Dean? How about Dean circa-5.03? No, those were all Dean.
Honestly, this brand of meta makes me somewhat uncomfortable. Dean does not cease to be when Sam isn’t with him. His identity doesn’t evaporate. That time is not an empty void in his life. Codependency or not, Dean is more than his relationship with Sam.
Also - this seems to be saying that Dean can have relationships with others, but Sam can’t. OP may not have meant it that way, but that is the implication. Which, no.
op doesn’t mean that at all. what she’s saying is that
- dean clearly isn’t happy without sam in his life.
- he is more than his relationship with sam, yes. but sam is integral to him, in his own mind.
- no matter how happy he might be with cas, without sam, there’s a void which makes him feel lesser than himself.
- all of those examples were dean, yes (with the exception of 2014!dean imo but that’s a whole other read-more of meta) but think about it: dean with lisa was not happy and he did not feel fulfilled in that lifestyle. dean in purgatory was in survival mode—sure, he felt “pure,” but only because the pure act of killing things was what was keeping him going (and because he was fighting to get back to—you guessed it—sam.) we can’t entirely speak for stanford-era dean because we never saw him. and dean in 5.03 was having fun with cas, sure, but you can’t tell me that he was happy to be without sam. he was making the best of the circumstance of not having sam there. he was not going to continue off with his life going to brothels with cas and having a merry old time. eventually he will always come back to sam.
- because sam, unhealthy as it may be (i’m not denying it’s unhealthy), is what keeps dean together. dean raised him, dean has looked after him all his life, sam is the most precious thing in the universe to dean, which is why dean is so broken by the idea of sam wanting to leave the life (which dean thinks means leaving him, because the life is so ingrained in dean that he can’t differentiate them anymore.)
- you’re right. dean doesn’t cease to be without sam. but he ceases to feel like himself. he ceases to feel that he has any worth or responsibility, and there aren’t enough 5.03s in the world to fill that void in dean.
- of course sam can have relationships with other people. but he, himself, is integral to dean as a person; he is also integral to the way castiel has developed. if dean doesn’t have sam in his life, he can’t feel whole, and that would be so destructive to a relationship with cas; likewise, to cas, sam and dean are two parts of a whole. sam balances them, sam is a voice of reason in their often fucked-up ways of thinking, and most of all sam makes them happy and makes them feel like they’re worth something, and they in turn do the same for him. he is a part of their lives and their characters and without him i think there would be a dimension to dean and castiel’s relationship that would be entirely lacking.

or what if Cas had been so close to Dean before, he’d heard Dean calling out for him so many times, it reverberated through the forest and Cas had to hold his tongue to keep from responding.
