Dean said he hadn’t talked to Sam in 5 years.

That means he hadn’t talked to Sam since that phone call past!Dean just answered in 2009.

It’s now 2012.

So it wouldn’t be five years.

Furthermore, “The End” was meant to emphasise that Sam and Dean need each other because they keep each other human. They can’t fight something that’s threatening to take that away from them alone.

Until Dean rejects Sam, or Sam rejects Dean, and the other brother lets him and walks out of his life, we’re not gonna get a “The End” ‘verse. Not gonna happen.
